Narrated by FBI Director William Webster, this video surveys the organization and activities of the Law Enforcement Explorers, a division of Boy Scouts of America.
Abstract
After emphasizing the importance of more community involvement in the criminal justice system, Webster explains how each Explorer post is affiliated with a law enforcement agency. That agency not only provides training, but also uses Explorers in various activities such as traffic control, searches for missing persons, crime prevention, and escorts for senior citizens. Police officers and teenagers offer positive comments on the Explorer program, noting that it helps the police and provides opportunities for teens to understand the law enforcement perspective and perform community service. The Explorers sponsor a national conference every 2 years that is held on a college campus. The video includes highlights from the 1981 conference.
