Specific policy guidelines for the program coordinator or administrator cover defining 'volunteer,' lines of authority and accountability, funding, support of volunteer staff, volunteer services documentation, public information and education, confidentiality, grievance procedures, liability coverage, training, and volunteer eligibility and application procedures, and policy review. Operational guidelines for the volunteer services manager discuss policy implementation, recruitment, job descriptions and role expectations, volunteer screening and selection, volunteer orientation and training, work assignments, supervision, and program evaluation.
