The American Bar Association Special Committee on Youth Education provides a number of LRE activities and services. These include a computerized LRE database, telephone consultations, LRE project newsletters, an annual national leadership seminar, a bar-school partnership program, and a nationwide program to improve young people's understanding of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Law in a Free Society Project provides a comprehensive curriculum for grades K through 12 that is based on eight basic concepts fundamental to understanding constitutional democracy. In addition to providing multimedia classroom materials and teacher training materials, the project also helps schools develop other civic and LRE programs. The Constitutional Rights Foundation assists school districts in developing strengthening LRE models through educational materials, teacher training, classroom visits by resource experts, and youth action projects. The National Institute for Citizen Education in Law provides teacher training, law school and mentor programs, juvenile court alternative programs, a clearinghouse, and LRE publications.
