Abstract
After identifying the types and patterns of drug abuse treated in New Jersey, this report indicates where drug abuse occurs in the State and the characteristics of drug abusers entering treatment. Other information addresses the number of persons entering treatment, the number of drug abusers currently entering treatment compared to past numbers, and the types of treatment available. Also discussed are how long persons use drugs before they enter treatment, whether participants volunteer for treatment, and the number of participants who complete their treatment programs. Remaining issues covered are the variety of drug abuse patterns for various groups and types of drugs, return to drug use after treatment, and who pays for drug treatment. The data presented in this report were obtained from the 73 drug treatment programs throughout the State, which collect and report information on their clients through a statewide client data system. Tables, figures, listing of treatment facilities.
