Funded by the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, TRAP involved a 12-18 month voluntary regime for drug abusing offenders that provided treatment in the institution and then continued the treatment during parole. This analysis tracked 47 clients admitted to TRAP during October 1978 in Maryland and 34 clients admitted to Connecticut's program during May-July 1979. In Maryland, 35 of the 47 clients entering TRAP graduated from the institutional phase and entered a community correction facility. One other client was paroled prior to graduation. Of the 35 in community corrections, 11 had unfavorable outcomes. Parole was achieved by 13, and 11 were still in community corrections as of April 1980. In Connecticut, 12 of the 34 clients entering the institutional phase graduated, while 8 were still in community corrections as of May 1980. The remaining 14 dropped out of TRAP for various reasons.
