This document summarizes data obtained from a study entitled, 'Survey -- Law Enforcement Use of the Stun Gun' sent to all Nebraska law enforcement agency heads on February 26, 1986.
Abstract
The study purpose was to obtain an overview of stun gun use by various agencies in Nebraska. Of the 205 agencies that responded, 73 or 35.6 percent reported using stun guns; 132 agencies or 64.4 percent do not use them. Data derived from the 73 agencies indicated that 36 of 67 counties and 37 or 129 cities and villages use the stun gun. Of the 132 agencies which do not use the stun gun, 31 are county sheriffs, 92 are cities or villages, and 9 are other agencies such as the Nebraska State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
