Interstate Compact Juvenile Probation: Operational Manual

NCJ Number
113134
Date Published
1987
Length
23 pages
Annotation
This operational manual is designed to assist California juvenile court judges and probation officers in processing cases through the Interstate Compact on Juveniles (ICJ).
Abstract
The ICJ was enacted by California and nine other States in 1955 to provide for out-of-State investigation and supervision of adjudicated delinquents and to provide for the return of runaways and absconders and escapees. It also allows agreements for cooperative institutionalization of special types of juveniles, such as mentally ill delinquents. The manual describes case processing procedures and provides definitions and regulations under the ICJ. In addition guidelines cover liability, confidentiality, restitution, parole and probation conditions, discharge or change in status, case documentation, and supervision of dependent children. A glossary, forms, and supplemental materials are appended.
