It also discusses the history of drug use in different cultures and the development of drug laws, emphasizing that drugs have been used throughout history, that law enforcement has not stopped drug use, and that the laws are unlikely to change. Case stores of individual teenagers' drug use are followed by chapters detailing the nature and the physiological and psychological effects of narcotics, cocaine, marijuana, hallucinogens, steroids, and other drugs. Issues underlying the debate regarding drug testing of students are also examined. Readers are urged to stay away from drugs and, if experiencing a problem with drugs, to seek help.
