The symposium was attended by 270 scientists representing industry, university, and government laboratories in the United States and several foreign countries. Lectures addressed biologic and chemical aspects of latent print development, various methods of latent print development including lasers, and automated fingerprint identification systems. Shorter presentations focused on techniques for the detection and enhancement of latent prints using unique chemical reagents and lasers. The effectiveness of several State automated fingerprint identification systems was the topic of a panel discussion.
