These proceedings contain lectures and other presentations from the International Forensic Symposium on Latent Prints held July 7-10, 1987, at the FBI's Forensic Science Research and Training Center in Quantico, Va.
Abstract
The symposium was attended by 270 scientists representing industry, university, and government laboratories in the United States and several foreign countries. Lectures addressed biologic and chemical aspects of latent print development, various methods of latent print development including lasers, and automated fingerprint identification systems. Shorter presentations focused on techniques for the detection and enhancement of latent prints using unique chemical reagents and lasers. The effectiveness of several State automated fingerprint identification systems was the topic of a panel discussion. The proceedings contain the full text of the lectures, abstracts of the shorter presentations, and a summary of the panel discussion. A list of participants, author and subject indexes.
