Questionnaires were mailed to all agencies listed in the sixth edition and to additional agencies identified by NCJRS staff. The directory includes only organizations that provide criminal justice information services as a major function, that answer telephone and mail requests, and that do not have prohibitive or excessively restrictive costs for services. Each listing specifies the sponsoring agency, the address of the information center or library, objectives, user restrictions, and publications.
