It is argued that the criminal justice system is stacked against attorneys defending white-collar offenders and that prosecutorial resources, publicity, and predisposition of jurors to convict makes these cases difficult to defend.
Abstract
This article lists key elements for successful defense of white-collar crimes such as managing the news media, controlling the client, and conducting thorough discovery and preparation. The way key elements come into play during the pre-indictment, pretrial, and trial stages in each case is explained, and steps necessary for avoiding the pitfalls are described.
