In addition to presenting an overview of child molestation as a psychosocial problem, Part I discusses developmental factors relating to sexual deviancy; diagnostic techniques; and organic, psychodynamic, and behavioral treatment procedures. Part II describes a computerized psychosexual assessment laboratory and a model residential treatment program for sex offenders. Included is a lengthy interview with a child molester at the close of the inpatient phase of treatment. The interview covers developmental and social spects of the sexual deviancy as well as the molester's evaluation of the benefits of the therapeutic experience. Part III addresses legal and ethical issues confronting the therapist of child molesters, the forensic evaluation process, and forensic report writing. The concluding chapter on the clinical implications for the therapist offers pragmatic information based on the authors' extensive experience in treating child molesters.
