Nominations were submitted in response to an advertisement placed in the major publications of the National Center for State Courts. Staff and an advisory committee reviewed more than 30 nominations and selected six systems for further review based on their use in high-volume courts of limited jurisdiction, the use of current microcomputer or minicomputer technology, ease of transferability, and improved efficiency and effectiveness of operations at the installed site. Site visits and interviews provided added information for the papers in this volume. Each paper identifies the courts that would benefit from the system, describes the court where the system was developed or installed, describes the company or organization that developed the system, provides a detailed description of the system's main functions and features, lists hardware and operating requirements, and discusses technology transfer issues. The systems include the Lower Court Information System in Arizona, the GENESIS system for case management in California, the Juvenile Court Docketing and Indexing System developed by the Michigan Judicial Data Center, the Allegheny County (Pa.) Child Support System, the Rhode Island Family Court Juvenile Information system, and the Court Receivables Tracking System in Washington.
