Abstract
The booklet first addresses the most commonly asked questions about AIDS, including the nature of the disease, what causes it, how it originated, the seriousness of the epidemic, how it spreads, who is most at risk, and how to reduce the risk of getting AIDS. A section on AIDS testing outlines the tests for AIDS, reviews the meanings of positive and negative test results, the value of testing, and the next steps for a person who tests positive. Advice on safer sex practices to help prevent the transmission of AIDS focuses on the preventive value of condoms, the type of condoms to use, and how to use a condom properly. A section on government efforts against AIDS addresses immigration policies pertinent to AIDS, the Canadian Government's efforts to avert an AIDS epidemic, and what the World Health Organization is doing about AIDS. Other major sections of the booklet discuss AIDS and women, information for parents and teachers, AIDS and the workplace, AIDS and dentistry, and AIDS and the health care worker. Subject index.
