This manual provides regulations, standards, and forms for law enforcement education, training, and certification in Arkansas.
Abstract
The materials are designed to increase police professionalism by ensuring that officers have the knowledge and skills needed to detect, prevent, and reduce crime. Regulations establish minimum standards for employment and promotion, including standards for education and physical, emotional, intellectual, and moral fitness as related to competency and reliability. Training standards also are provided. Specific regulations deal with such matters as probationary periods, college education, examinations, training and training records, and personnel action reports. Other regulations pertain to certification of law enforcement officers, auxiliary officers, specialized police personnel, field training officers, instructors, and schools and curricula. Specifications set forth specific requirements and documentation/verification procedures with respect to citizenship and age, background, education, personal interview, physical and psychological examination, and training and certification. Sample forms required by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training are included.
