This manual guides trainers in instructing case management staff in the fundamentals of the critical elements of Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime (TASC) and how to perform each.
Abstract
The training package is designed to make TASC a permanent model for intervening with drug dependent offenders while fostering an orthodoxy among TASC sites which will give all TASC projects a common language and philosophy while maintaining the flexibility required to address local needs and demands. The trainer manual contains material on all 12 course modules. The modules consist of course introduction, understanding TASC, TASC history/elements, establishing support of justice, establishing support of treatment (two modules), identification/screening, assessment/referral, case management, urinalysis, recordkeeping, confidentiality, and special populations. The introduction to each model identifies the content to be taught, training materials needed, and the anticipated time required for delivery. The appendixes contain a pretest, frequently asked confidentiality questions, Federal rules and regulations pertinent to the confidentiality of alcohol and drug abuse patient records, and a posttest.
