The latter two groups are theological racist movements that have grown in strength and are attempting to influence community mores and public policy through the media and by targeting the courts and the Federal Reserve System. The Aryan Nations is a far-right, underground, white supremacist organization that serves as an umbrella structure for several neo-Nazi and Ku Klux Klan factions that embrace a militant strategy of violence and terror. Among such groups is the Order, a group that has been involved in robbery, murder, counterfeiting, and racketeering. The largest operation in the Northwest is the Populist Party, a coalition of racists and anti-semites interested in the electoral arena and involved in protesting taxation, gun control, and forms of official identity documentation (e.g., driver's licenses, social security numbers). In addition to traditional racist and anti-semitic activities of such groups, there has been a growing level of organizing against Native Americans. These activities have become a matter of growing concern to the Center for Democratic Renewal (CDR), a national clearinghouse for documentation of and action against hate group activity.
