This document provides statistics for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1988 on the number and movement of offenders under the supervision of the Wisconsin Division of Corrections.
Abstract
As of June 30, 1988, the Wisconsin Division of Corrections was responsible for the supervision of 37,207 prisoners, an increase of 3.7 percent over the previous fiscal year. The number of inmates in adult correctional institutions rose from 5,676 at the beginning of the fiscal year to 5,790 at the end. Resident juveniles in institutions remained relatively constant during the fiscal year, with 515 at the beginning and 511 at the end. Offenders under community supervision rose from 26,197 on July 1, 1987 to 27,013 on June 30, 1988, an increase of 3.1 percent. There were 3,498 communtiy supervision cases on absconder status at the beginning of the fiscal year and 3,893 at the end of the fiscal year. The report includes average daily offender population statistics for adult and juvenile offenders for fiscal year 1988. Comparisons in average daily offender populations are made for fiscal years 1984 to 1988.
