These statistics are broken down by offense, race, age, area of admission, marital status, substance abuse history, intelligence, and education. The same categories describe the institutional population, with the addition of prior commitment, military record, employment history, and escape history. Statistics on inmate behavior address escapes, assaults, and time credits. The report also summarizes demographic and offense characteristics of parolees and offenders' movements into and release from parole.
