A community crime prevention triangle includes law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, policy makers, and the community at large. The article defines the roles of each of the groups in the crime prevention triangle and provides specific advice on building community teams and crime prevention coalitions. The skills necessary for successful coalition leaders are identified as are the steps to be taken in bringing together community groups to fight crime. Community organizations such as neighborhood watch, safe houses for school children, and business watch exemplify positive community involvement in crime prevention. Specific community citizen involvement crime prevention programs are discussed and identified.
