Citing Bangladesh's conformity with the United Nations Covenants on Civil an political Rights and the Criminal Procedure Code of Bangladesh, the article points out that compensation for unlawful arrest and detention is possible in Bangladesh. The article discusses how the criminal justice system in Bangladesh deals with juvenile offenders, how the human rights of prisoners are protected, and how prisoners may reduce their sentences through good behavior. The concept of compensating victims of crimes has not received much attention in Bangladesh, the article reports, in part because many victims are poor and ignorant and do not know how to pursue their claims through the existing legal and administrative process. To improve the situation of victims in Bangladesh, it will be necessary to train and motivate administrators as well as the public.
