The High Plains Youth Center in Brush, Colorado, which is operated by Rebound! Colorado, is a secure residential treatment center for adjudicated males between the ages of 12 and 21. This booklet details the center's program and operations.
Abstract
Center residents are youth who have committed serious, repetitive, assaultive offenses. The center offers two programs: the treatment program for typical offenders and the special offender treatment program for more serious offenders. The special offender treatment program provides offense-specific treatment for youths who have committed habitual sexual offenses, arson, and serious assaults, or who have drug and alcohol addictions. Both programs include extensive orientation and assessment, individualized treatment planning, treatment for multiple problems, and the use of positive peer pressure. The treatment teams focus on the residents' alcohol and drug dependency, interpersonal violence, and sexual victimization and exploitation. Counseling is the primary element in an holistic approach which also includes traditional and remedial education, recreation, physical fitness, medical services, wellness classes, nutrition classes, and intensive interaction with the treatment team. An area map and floor plan are provided.
