This report reviews the work of the Swedish Commission on White Collar Crime, which researched the status of this type of crime in the 1970's and early 1980's. It considers the effectiveness of legislation stemming from the commission as well as that of the economic court established as part of the reform movement.
Abstract
The report indicates that white-collar crime is not particularly pervasive in general nor in any particular modern form (tax fraud, manipulation of automated payroll systems, credit card fraud, etc.). The report looks at several laws put into place as a result of the commission's recommendations and their modification in practice. Particular attention is paid to legislation on corporate fines and on the economic court, which, to date, has not filled the function planned for it. (Author abstract)
