This document reports on the status of Scotland's prisons in 1987, emphasizing prison management of work programs, education and vocational training, social work, physical education and recreation, religious activities, and health and dental services. In 1987 for the first time AIDS cases were treated in Scottish prisons. Data are also supplied on prison deaths and escapes as well as staff and resource management.
