This document summarizes the automated capacities of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Abstract
This directory has proven to be an effective resource for those law enforcement agencies who were considering automation, and those who were about to expand their automated capacities. The Law Enforcement Data Center Bureau (LEDC) provides the FDLE and other State and local criminal justice agencies data processing services and expertise for the development, implementation, and operation of criminal justice information systems and related functions of the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC). FCIC consists of telecommunications network and on-line databases which provide criminal justice agencies in Florida with information on wanted persons, missing persons, stolen vehicles and license plates, stolen guns and other personal property, and complete criminal records. Other applications supported by the Data Center are a crime intelligence support system, an automated fingerprint identification system, a crime investigation management system, an automated criminal justice officer training and employment records system, a crime laboratory support system, a comprehensive crime information reporting system, and a department-wide office automation network. 4 tables and 2 appendixes.
