Individual papers describe the characteristics of suicide attempters and suicide completers, the factors involved in the development of suicidal behavior, myths surrounding suicides, and publications and audiovisual materials relating to adolescent suicide. Additional papers focus on preventive counseling, differences in the attitudes of adolescent males and females regarding suicide, responses to psychic discomforts, rates and predictors of suicide ideation in teenage males and females, and peer responses to suicidal individuals. Further papers describe the suicide intervention plans developed by several communities or schools and analyze the roles of guidance counselors, classroom teachers, and other education professionals.
