The project focused on improving the quality of interaction between teachers and students, the quality of interaction between teachers and parents, the peer group relationships for teachers and students, and the physical environment. The teacher questionnaire was developed first and used five subscales: principal's leadership qualities, teacher-colleague relations, nonclassroom elements of teacher satisfaction, personal relationships between teachers and students, and instructional relationships between teachers and students, and instructional relationships between teachers and students. Pilot testing in the spring of 1979 resulted in the addition of subscales on relations between parents and teachers and the quality of the building and facilities. Questionnaires for parents and students were then developed. The parent version was printed in Spanish on one side and in English on the other. Pilot testing of the questionnaires during the early part of 1980 was followed by random sampling of students and parents during the 1980-81 school year. Attached questionnaires.
