British drug law enforcement specialists worked for more than a year with colleagues from the Northumbria police in England to crack the biggest drug trafficking ring ever discovered in the area.
Abstract
The effort had the code name of Operation Baker and led to the arrest of 15 people responsible for distributing huge amounts of marijuana throughout northern England and Scotland. The three main conspirators were ultimately jailed for a total of 23 years and ordered to hand over extensive cash and property. Drug enforcement officers raided a remote farmhouse in April 1988 and seized a large quantity of marijuana. The officers also found two illegal shotguns and ammunition, paperwork detailing marijuana sales, stolen silverware and carpets, and a large amount of cash. Photographs.
