This approach is employed in ways that are consistent with contracts negotiated between the client, therapist, and other involved systems that are vital and related to the level of therapy being done. One level of therapy is not superior to another; they merely differ as a function of the client's expectations and goals, as well as of the energy, money, and time spent. Without contracts and external pressure to continue in treatment, first meetings are vitally important in the therapy of abusers.
