This text is designed to provide lawyers with practical information for use in the legal representation of lesbian and gay clients and people with AIDS and AIDS-related complex or who have undergone HIV antibody testing.
Abstract
The discussions cover the major kinds of law affecting lesbians and gay males and details strategies to use in representing clients in cases involving specific areas of the law. Individual sections cover family and property law, including property and cohabitation agreements, Federal taxes, and laws relating to death, incapacity, and illness. Discussions of situations involving civil rights and discrimination focus on employment, the military and veterans, immigration, consumer goods and services, the First Amendment, and cases involving juveniles. The representation of clients in criminal cases involving sodomy and other sexual offenses is also covered. Chapters on AIDS focus on the representation of ill clients, legal issues related to antibody testing, cases involving the termination of employment, and insurance issues.
