The rise in international terrorism has led to significant expenditures to improve security and access control by industrial, commercial, and government sectors.
Abstract
In 1986 alone, 26 billion dollars were spent to improve security and access control. There is a growing realization that the implementation of security systems should be a collaborative effort between non-technical security professionals who can specify security standards and architects and engineers who can design systems which satisfy those specifications. The need for such a collaborative effort is identified and dialogue between the two professions is established that should result in improved future facility and systems designs.
