Developed to assess the impact of childhood abuse on later (adult) functioning, the 33-item Trauma Symptom Checklist (TSC-33) consists of five subscales, Dissociation, Anxiety, Depression, Post-Sexual Abuse Trauma-hypothesized (PSAT-h), and Sleep Disturbance, and a total scale score.
Abstract
This study presented the psychometric properties of this scale, as summarized from four separate studies, and tested the reliability of the measures. Data suggested that the TSC-33 and its associated subscales were reasonably reliable measures that displayed some predictive and discriminative validity with regard to childhood sexual abuse. Other variables, such as physical abuse history and mental health client status, appeared to elevate the checklist scores. However, another variable, gender, had no such effect on the score. Tables, appendix, notes, and 18 references. (Author Abstract modified)
