The body alarm system not only provides an officer with personal control over a line of defense in a crisis situation, but enhances the usefulness of other surveillance equipment and helps relieve job stress.
Abstract
Three factors essential to correctional guard security are described: deterrence, instant communication, and rapid response that is location discrete. After listing problems encountered with panic buttons and radios, the article describes the ultrasonic system and mechanical pen and battery operated electronic transmitter types. Other issues covered include crystal control, low-battery voltage indicators, and specifications. Also addressed are manufacturer support, system warranties, and staff training.
