Abstract
The 1,094 items represent selective publications distributed between 1975 and October 1986. Privately or commercially published works (books, articles, and reports), even if the consequences of government-sponsored research, are not included; The major criterion for inclusion was the availability of a document to a wide, general audience. Publications are arranged into broad subject chapters on the criminal justice system, crime and criminals, law enforcement, the courts, corrections, juvenile justice, security, and special resources. Within each chapter the documents are then grouped into more narrow subjects, often beginning with general studies and proceeding on to more specialized works.
