This manual uses the experience of programs started in California as a basis for guidelines on options and strategies to communities interested in breaking the cycle of sexual exploitation of teenagers by creating a local system of services for juvenile prostitutes.
Abstract
An overview explains the history, legislative intent, and implementation of the Child Sexual Exploitation Intervention of the California Office of Criminal Justice Planning. Additional chapters provide an overview of the issues related to teenage prostitution and its role as a means to obtaining shelter, food, clothing, and drugs. Administrative structures and services provided in three California projects are explained. Further chapters discuss the major community and organizational elements that must be considered when designing a system of care for these teenagers and outline innovative project designs and specific services. Glossary and 26 references.
