Abstract
Imprisonment is identified as an available sanction for Federal crimes and authorized terms of imprisonment are set forth for each classification of felony. Policies for imposing multiple, concurrent, and consecutive terms of imprisonment are laid out, as are criteria for implementing prison sentences. The responsibilities of the Federal Bureau of Prisons are identified as are procedures for temporary release, transfers to State authority, and good time parole. The statute also lists procedures and services for prisoners upon release from prison, including post-release supervision. 218 footnotes.
