Appendix F of Volume 2 contains the full text of the Criminal Fine Improvements Act of 1987, Public Law 100-185, which amends title 18 of the U.S. Code to improve provisions for the imposition and collection of criminal fines.
Abstract
Sections of the Act outline the duties of the Director of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts in relation to fines; establish special assessments; define petty offense; eliminate obsolete provisions; set authorized fines; define imposition of a sentence of fine and revision of modification or remission of a fine; and detail procedures of interim and permanent provision of fines. Additional sections deal with amendments for the collection of fines and receipt of restitution payments by courts.
