Title: Preventing AIDS Among Substance Abusers: A Training Program in Administrative Planning for Substance Abuse Treatment Programs: Trainer's Guide

Annotation: This set of training materials is designed for use in an eight-part workshop that focuses on the administrative planning for providing AIDS prevention services to drug users who are in substance abuse treatment programs.
Abstract: The packet includes a trainer's guide, printed reproductions of overhead transparencies, and a participant's manual. Workshop topics include the challenges and problems that drug treatment programs face with respect to AIDS, management responsibilities for becoming informed about HIV and AIDS, the basic concepts of prevention education, issues related to antibody testing, and ethical issues such as privacy protections and discrimination on the basis of HIV infections. Other topics include the impact of HIV disease on other treatment areas, the elements of strategic planning, and the development of a 6-month work plan for AIDS programming. The trainer's manual presents a content outline, instructional guidelines, lists of time requirements and equipment needs, and background information on each topic. The participant's manual provides outlines, diagrams, background information, and forms on which to complete specific exercises.
