The Drug Advisory Program (DAP) of the Colombo Plan Bureau helps the 26 member States in Asia and the Pacific to organize national and regional seminars, workshops, conferences, and discussions on various aspects of drug abuse prevention and control and to publish reports on the proceedings of these meetings.
Abstract
The DAP also advises and assists member nations in preparing drug legislation and in promoting drug law enforcement. In addition, it provides grants and supports research, provides consultancy programs for the least-developed nations in the region, and disseminates information related to drug abuse, drug trafficking, and countermeasures to deal with these problems. The Colombo Plan also encourages and supports voluntary nongovernmental organizations in their efforts to prevent and control drug abuse. Furthermore, in cooperation with other organizations and its own member nations, it organizes international conferences whose aims are to promote the involvement of nongovernmental organizations in the prevention and control of drug abuse.
