This article reports on equipment and a technique developed to field test illicit drug samples for lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).
Abstract
The equipment consists of a nonelectronic fluorimesic apparatus that is simple to make and use, inexpensive, and easy to handle. The seized drug is then tested by synchronous excitation spectofluorimetry, enabling an immediate determination of the amount of LSD in the sample. When testing by differential fluorimetry or synchronous spectofluorimetry and chromatographic techniques are compared, the results show excellent agreement. 47 footnotes. (Author abstract modified)
