This manual provides resource and reference information to help administrators and other professionals better develop Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime (TASC) programming, client transferability, and program permanency.
Abstract
TASC identifies, assesses, and refers certain alcoholic and drug-dependent offenders accused or convicted of nonviolent crimes to community-based, substance abuse treatment as an alternative or supplement to justice system sanctions. The reference information in the manual is intended for use by newly established programs or projects or model projects in development. It lists specific resource persons with expertise in one or more of the critical components of TASC. It also lists Federal agencies, national clearinghouses for drug and criminal justice information, and national associations in the drug abuse and criminal justice fields. It also provides information on Federal formula grants and discretionary grants related to drug control, along with procedures for obtaining free TASC technical assistance and training. Forms.
