A study of opiate and injected amphetamine users in Nottingham revealed a local drug economy with specific supply and demand characteristics.
Abstract
On the supply side, attention focused on illicit supply, the impact of dealers, and pricing methods. Demand factors included the purchasing behavior of drug users, such as resales and the use of credit, as related to their preferences and purchasing power. Crude elasticity relationships are presented. Two elements of public policy toward drug users, care and policing, were discussed. 6 tables, 11 references. (Author abstract modified)
