This document focuses on some important changes in public attitudes toward robbery in Australia, including injury to the victim and increasing protection against it.
Abstract
Some issues raised during this seminar concerned gun control, the media, the justice system, physical aspects, and victim services as they relate to robbery. Proposals included licensing of gun owners, providing accurate information through formal channels to encourage responsible media coverage of robberies, increasing the numbers of operational police to combat armed robbery, providing comprehensive training in the use of physical security equipment and procedures in robbery-vulnerable industries, and making available psychological support services to all armed robbery victims.
