Armed robbery is a high impact, high profile crime, and in the criminal subculture, armed robbers are considered elite.
Abstract
It is difficult to predict who will be a robber. Most armed robbers have only one thing in common, and that is the aim of obtaining significant amounts of money in a very short period of time. When the armed robber feels threatened or his escape appears to be cut off, then bodily injury to victims may be the outcome. To reduce armed robbery, a number of matters need to be addressed, including target-hardening, realistic sentencing, responsible reporting by the media, and sensible laws to govern the conduct of police investigators.
