Within the context of the Toronto Family Court Clinic Adolescent Sexual Offender Study, more than 100 male sexual offenders were assessed.
Abstract
Adolescent sexual offenders were considered as part of the larger group of emotionally disturbed youngsters. For purposes of clinical management, areas of overlap between the two groups were identified and issues specific to sexual offenders were delineated. Guidelines are given to assess the offense, to take the sexual history of the offender, and to assess the sexual preferences of the offender and the risk of recidivism. Preventive interventions, and the special problems presented by incestuous offenders are discussed; as well as ethical issues such as the growing public condemnation of sexual crimes. 34 references.
