This report illustrates selected sentencing characteristics of the Determinate Sentencing Law (DSL), and the mandates of Penal Code 1170(f).
Abstract
In FY 1986/87, the Board of Prison Terms reviewed the records of 22,261 State prisoners with determinate sentences. This report examines the data according to region, type of crime, length of sentence, and numbers of convictions. It also describes Senate Bills which have amended the DSL since its beginning in 1977. 10 charts, 18 tables.
