These summaries of the significant criminal justice laws and resolutions enacted by the Georgia legislature in 1989 are intended to provide reference information for criminal justice practitioners, State and local government officials, and citizens.
Abstract
The legislation pertained to public safety agencies and personnel, judicial administration and procedures, corrections, criminal sanctions, offense definitions, and juvenile justice. Individual measures focused on the treatment of alcoholics, drug trafficking, reckless driving, fraud, inadmissibility of certain evidence in rape cases, and flying under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Further topics include traffic law enforcement on college campuses, measures for dealing with prison overcrowding, bail jumping, selection of grand juries, and probated sentences. Index.
