The three categories used are: most serious offense by region, racial/ethnic group by region, and age groups by region. Each of these is further broken down by males and females. The data shows an increase in the number of felons on parole of 20.3 percent from December 31, 1987 to December 31, 1988. Property offenses accounted for 38.9 percent of the felon parole population, 31 percent accounted for violent offenses, and drug offenses accounted for 25.3 percent. Other offenses accounted for 4.8 percent of the felon parole population. In region one, whites comprised the largest racial/ethnic group, and in regions two and three, blacks represented the largest racial/ethnic group.
