This booklet is designed specifically for Southeast Asian teenagers in the United States to facilitate their understanding of sexual assault and how to prevent it.
Abstract
The booklet contains case histories and quizzes to assess teenagers' knowledge and perceptions of sexual assault and rape. Information is also provided on what constitutes sexual assault, the acceptability of sex in dating, sexual offenders (stranger versus acquaintance), and sexual assault hurts victims physically and emotionally. Self-protection measures and the importance of communication with a trusted parent, teacher, sponsor, or friend are stressed, with specific ways of protecting against sexual assault suggested. Information is also given on what to do after a sexual assault, including the importance of seeking medical help and reporting to the police. English translations of terms associated with sexual assault are provided. Illustrations.
