Taking the Stand: For Kids Who Testify

This videotape is designed to help prepare child victims and witnesses to testify in criminal courts.
Abstract
Recognizing that most children involved in the criminal court process are exposed to unfamiliar language, procedures, personnel, and confusing information, this video introduces children to the location, vocabulary, and people involved in a courtroom setting. The film creates positive feelings for viewers and eliminates the mystery and unfamiliarity of the courtroom. Children develop self-confidence as they learn about their responsibilities as witnesses and cope with their anxieties about testifying. (Author abstract modified)
